I had problems with clutch and torque

especially, in 4th and 5th gear if I pushed the pedal to the metal

from around 3.000rpm, then it would rev up instantly up to 7.000 while the car remained stationary.

I have about 36 kilos wheel power

after changing two times the original part, I knew I had to be more creative.

so I went and had a custom set made

not bad, right?

first thing I asked was for the clutch not to loose the soft feeling that it had

and second, to be able to withstand the power

right now, I still have to drive it slow for another 200km

so I cant really say if I succeded on eliminating my problem

what I can say though, is that the clutch retained the original factory soft feel

anybody has done something like me?

you know our cars, when having above 210-220hp, have a small, but constant slip of the disk and the pressure plate

we just didnt notice it too much

When i worked at AmD we quite often fitted uprated clutches to AudiA4/6 which is the same as your Superb, look very similar to yours above. I think the ones we got were froma company called Spec. Some of the higher powered ones for the 500+ bhp Audi S4/RS4 were awesome, bit on the heavy side sometimes but still remained progressive.

Are you still running the std flywheel or have you got a single piece one?

when I got the car on official skoda service, I took the entire set complete with flywheel to the person who would manufacture for me

he insisted on me doing this.

so after he had inspected them, he was laughing at the disk, but said that the flywheel is very very good

forgive me for not being technical enough, I will try to tell you what I understood, and you elaborate

logically from what I understood, the pressure on the single mass flywheel goes to the disk,

while on twin(?) mass -factory standard, it goes to the flywheel.

so after having changed disks two times, I thought the flywheel would need service or reinforcement or even garbage can.

he said its best to keep the flywheel as is, since he found it pretty good and stated that no service or reinforcement was necessary.

he also told me that he would construct the disk with 6 (unknown word) of these metalic surfaces, while when we talked on the phone he was yelling NOT 6!! ONLY 4!!

it was inspection of the flywheel that led him to change his mind.

now i have 170 km driven, and i can say there is no difference at all in the feel of the clutch (very important for me)

I will wait another day or two to reach 350, and then I'll put it to the test

I really did know nothing about these things up to now, so I am basing my words to what I was told

I also looked for the superb 2.8l solution.

but it was bigger and heavier, so even if i managed to stuff it all inside, i believe the results of the change of weights would not be good news

you think i should have changed the flywheel to a single mass?

the manufacturer i chose is building hand-made clutch sets and flywheels nd brakes for racing cars for 30 years..

Sounds like they know what they are talking about then mate.

I think we usually changed the flywheel to save some weight. The dual mass unit is quite heavy and a lighter one piece unit spins up quicker. But you do get some chatter off them when pulling away on some applications.

Fromt he photo the cover looks pretty much standard, this is probably why it feels pretty good, and the centre plate looks like it has a standard centr piece with a new friction material design (paddle like), it certainly looks well made, top job!

so I guess if it works then it is succesfull 8)

i was present while he made them, and he did proccess the cover and hammered it and even did some stuff he wouldn't let me see on both cover and disk (quite funny, since i dont know nothing about these things)

he was a very funny character, i enjoyed the 4 hours of wait, i laughed a lot

when i start pushing the car i will update if anything noticable happens

out of curiosity, how much was the cost for the Spec kits you mentioned?
