Rust under warranty?

Featured Replies

Washed the car today and noticed bubbling under the paint on the rear bumper and rust spots on the side skirts.

Would this be covered under the warranty? 10 year paint protection im sure.

Rust isn't, that's 3 years. Bubbling from underneath should be for 12 years on the Fabia.

Best thing to do is ask the dealer. but the bubbling defo should be as I understand it.

So the bubbling on the rear bumper should get fixed then? Bit better than none of it getting sorted.

Should do. If the bubbling caused the rust you may able to get some good-will or something (unlikely though), but if it's from a stone chip etc then I would expect them to say no.

Paint warranty is only 3yrs. Anti corrosion is 10yrs...

It is only covered under warranty if it hasnt been caused by an 'external influence' e.g stone chips etc...

I had the tailgate done under warranty (which was rusting behind the number plate), but SUK rejected the claim first time round. Took a 'friendly dealer' to submit another claim which they accepted... Pics would be good, never noticed any of them when I had it :(

I'll post the pics up tomorrow.

The bumper is plastic so I doubt that'll be covered if you're outside the three year paintwork warranty.

If the paint on the sills is in tact and bubbling from corrosion underneath then it should be covered, but if they've gone rusty through stone chip damage then it won't be.

These were the exact pictures I emailed to my (not local) dealer, who then dealt with SUK about a warranty claim, which they accepted 2nd time round...

Not sure why it wasnt accepted 1st time, but as you can see, its quite clearly behind the number plate, and nothing like stone chips etc could have caused it...
