Fabia Earth Point

Featured Replies

Hi There,

Quick question, other than the earth on the left of the boot behind the boot light is there any other 'good' earthing points. I have used this earthing point as a start but due to the nut at the base I am unable to get full metal to metal contact to ensure a good earth (2600W rms worth of amps) could you please advise on another point to earth to the car chassis?

Cheers

Dave

Rather than making a hole in the bodywork ,find the nearest 10mm bolt,The hatch locking mechanism has a few .and use a heavy duty solder tag, and make sure the wire is heavy duty (30 amp) as well. A bolt into a factory fitted threaded bush ,is much better electrically than a hand tightened self tapping screw. When you take the equipment out the car ,there will not be a hole left which will rust and let water in.

Lower seat belt bolt. Thats what I use on all my cars I've had. Just loosen the bolt, remove some paint and then clamp the wire between the body and the seat belt.

Was going to sugest the seat belt bolt but some people have had issuses with this before. Ill add that this was on other older cars, could be they never clean the metal enough to ensure a good contact.
