curtain or side air bags?

Featured Replies

just got a new car - and sussing it out...

If a 2007 octavia elegance estate has airbags in the A and B pillars, and on the edge of the front seats, and in front of the driver and passenger, is this side or curtain airbags.

Counting up every bit of trim etc that say's "airbag" I can count 8 - is does this make it curtain airbags...?

Yes VRS does not have curtain as standard but yours will . The trim between windscreen and a frame will say airbag. That is where it "fires" from

Typically, the curtain airbag in a vehicle will deploy from the edge of the roof lining above the doors. Its presence is identified through the SRS/airbag markings on the A and B pillars, as you describe. The airbag is not in the actual pillars. Side airbags usually deploy from the side of the seat backrest (for front seats at least) but some cars also have them in the doors. I expect your octy has 6 air bags - driver (in steering wheel), front passenger (in dashboard), side airbags (in each of front seats) and curtain airbags (along each side in headlining)
