Water Ingress - But Only When Driving In The Rain

Featured Replies

I raised this issue last year, March 12th 2009, on my brand new pre-facelift Octavia. I thought the dealer had fixed it by replacing the door seal and window regulator seal, but following the heavy rainfall of late the problem is back!

After a period of driving in heavy rain a large quantity of water, enough to puddle and soak the carpet, collects in the passenger foot well. The problem cannot be re-created with a hose pipe or jet wash, it only occurs whilst driving in heavy rain.

Any help or suggestions as to where/how the water is getting inside the vehicle?

A number of people on this site have complained about water collecting in the door and subsequently venting into the footwell so that would be something worth looking at. Make sure you carry newspaper around with you in the meantime so you can dry it as soon as possible as the carpets or specifically the dirt within them can become very smelly very quickly if left damp for mildew to form .

Sounds like body flex to me....

Not the pollen filter is it? That used to be the exact symptoms when it happened in the Seat Leon.

Is the inner wheel arch on properly

I get odd drips through the front door seals around the wing mirror area which occurs in heavy rain or prolonged rain

I need a bucket as it falls on the seats.

I had this problem with a previous car I owned turned out to be the bulkhead seal on the bonnet release cable may be worth checking.
