New Vrs Order - parking sensors

Featured Replies

Hi

This is my first post as i am new to Skoda personally (family have had them for years)

I am moments away from ordering a new Octavia VRS CR TDI, Race Blue, with parking sensors and a spare wheel. After phoning different dealers in my area i have got it down to a price i am happy with. However, one dealer has said he can get me the exact car i want apart from factory fit parking sensors in around 3 weeks instead of the 16 weeks factory order wait. He can fit dealer fit parking sensors which would be colour coded but it wont show the display on the stereo, just the accoustics. My question is are these parking sensors as good as the factory fit ones or is it worth placing a factory order and waiting?

Thanks in advance

Dunno if it is worth waiting but I use the visible display a lot. You have to see it in action to understand why but imagine reversing into a space where both front and rear swinging room is very tight (my office car park is like this). The visual display shows you exactly where you are. I cant see you would have that through the audio feedback alone, you would have to get out of the car every time it bleeps at you to see what was going on.

I agree the display can show you if it is just one corner that is coming close to something so you can adjust your angle of attack etc.

Whereas with just acoustic you wouldn't know what's going on just that you are getting close to something.

Personally I would wait for the car to have it exaclty as you want it.... Thinking of sell on too someone looking to buy your car vs one with factory fit may choose the factory fit version over yours.

Cheers guys. I will have a good old think about it. But i think you are right, its probably best to wait and get the exact car i want.

I have the factory fitted version including display. To be honest i found it more of a fun thing for my wife & kids to look at when im reversing, i normally am looking in the mirrors to see where im going, only occasionally looking at the display if it beeps quickly & i cant see why. For that small reason alone i'd definately recommend the factory fitted versions with the display. I count myself as a good reverse parker, i've always reverse parked as i find it easier, but if you cant see something and dont know why the beeps are going mad you dont know which side of the car to look out of for obstructions, saves you having to get out the car to see why the beeps suddenly go mad! Also, the retrofitted sensors themselves are not as flush fitting as the factory kit s and in my opinion dont look as tidy. Not dissing the the retrofit kits, they work well & are good value if you have to pay for fitment, just my observation!
