VCP

Featured Replies

Just a quick heads up - I now have a copy of VCP.

Still trying to get my head round it as it is a bit different to VCDS, but I think I now have rain closing working on O3 and VIM on the MIB Columbus.

I am happy to do this for Briskodians, but unfortunately I would expect a suitable gesture of goodwill as I am one of the few in the country with VCP, and £250 for the cable and the ongoing annual subscriptions have to paid for somehow

It looks like I can do VIM for MIB Amundsen as well, but I haven't tried it.

If any of the European members can point me in the direction of some good resources (downloads, how-to's etc.) it would be appreciated.

I have found vcp-forum.de but the English section is a bit empty and for some reason Google translate doesn't always translate the German posts.

I stumbled across a Polish forum but can't find it again - it seemed to have loads on there.

Please feel free to PM me with info.

Andy

Confused. For £13 more you could have got a genuine Rosstech cable from Gendan with no annual subscription.

Does VCP do more than VCDS?

I have VCDS as well.

VCP does a whole load more - activate VIM, one-touch coding, EOL programming, module firmware updates etc.

At the moment VCDS can't code the RLS on MQB platform cars, and TBH their support for MQB is limited as they haven't seen one in USA yet! Lots of the modules don't have populated label files. There is a German version of VCDS floating about with more label files documented (strangely in English) but the whole interface is in German, and it also won't work with my Ross-Tech cable as the cable wasn't purchased in Germany! Go figure!

There is nothing 'non-genuine' about VCP either.

Looks like I need to brush up on my Polish & German though .........

I must say that the vag-tech.eu support via email has been very good, responses within a few hours. I can't say the same for Ross-Tech unfortunately, many days before a response comes back, and the usual answer lately is along the lines of we haven't seen a MQB platform car as they aren't available in the States so can't help.

Thanks for that, Andy. Might be worth looking into.

Takes some getting used to as the interface is very different, it is a bit of a pain to install as it is authenticated with a smartcard, and my laptop has a fingerprint reader on it and the software for that was conflicting with the smartcard. Once I got past that though it is OK, and there seems to be an update every week or two to the software with added support. VCDS hasn't been updated in months.

Can vcp do everything you can do with vcds?

Yep, and more. Still getting used to it, not as user friendly

Already put the card in a PCMCIA smart card reader - the USB stick is a PITA - guaranteed to get snapped off!

So Andy, is there any word on whether VCP can change the speed at which Lane Assist activates? It's currently 40mph which I find too low (so i've switched it off), would be much better at say 70mph so it only comes on on motorway drives where it'd much more welcome. :)

Don't know as I don't have Lane Assist :-) so not had chance to check

Fair enough :)

I've had a dig through a few logs that I've captured over the last month and can't spot anything immediately.

Sure I've seen something somewhere when looking at a car, chances are I didn't do a controller channel map at the time  :wall: due to my crappy battery life on my laptop. Got a new high capacity battery for it now though

Well if it so possible then I'd definitely be interested, along with high beam assist if that's do-able with VCP.

Not sussed high beam assist yet either. I'll do some digging
