Reversing sensors

Featured Replies

Hi there. When I select Reverse there is a 1 second long beeeeep, but as I approach parked objects while crawling in reverse there are no further beeps. Today I got pretty close to a parked car, still no more regular beeping. Could this indicate that my PDC is kaputt, or did I just not get close enough (I am terrible at judging distances!). From your experience at what sort of distance should it start beeping more regularly? :)

Quite simply one of your sensors has failed. The long bleep as opposed to a short beep is telling you the system is not right. You need to buy a sensor and change one sensor at a time to find out the one that has failed.

Now comes the bad news. The sensor is about £80 each and you will have to take off the rear bumper to get to far sensors.

You unclip the sensor from the back of the bumper which can be accesed by lying down and reaching behind.

Try changing the sensors you can reach before removing the bumper though.

Kind Regards

You can remove all the sensors without removing the bumper. I can get all 4 of mine off in 10 minutes. There is a plastic cover to remove on the offside, held by 2 torx and 3 bolts.

Its tight and if you have a tow bar forget it. Also helps sometimes to remove the bumper as you get to see how the sensor is clipped in place.

I agree it's tight. Just tried it and failed miserably. :giggle:

Is there a knack to it? Can anyone advise please? I mean it pop 'in' to some extent, but then it just wouldn't come out completely. And of course only then do I have the task of disconnecting from the loom, which would be a lot easier if I knew what the thing looked like so I knew where to press etc...

H there. Anyone had the experience of removing the rear bumper, is it a big job?

Easy, screws in wheel arch and underneath, but you also need to take out both rear lights as there are fixing screws under the lenses.

rotodiesel.

Oh_Superb, I have just realised that we live 20 minutes away from each other! I can show you how to get them off if you like, it's easier than trying to explain in words.
