Xenon adjustment - cannot connect to 55

Featured Replies

Evening all,

After a lot of attempts with Jay's (full version of) vag-com (VCDS?), we can't get into Controller 55 to adjust the xenons. We followed the rosstech guide to the letter, but we're getting a "cannot connect to module" message. I've tried both 29 and 39 (left and right lights respectively). It seems to connect to those, but when we went to 04, it claimed nothing was there.

No error codes, but when doing a full scan of the car it doesn't pick up controller 55 at all, as if it isn't there (with either the headlights on or off).

Otherwise, the headlights are working fine, autolevelling etc., it's just since the suspension has been tweaked they're aimed a tad high.

Previous searches have found one thread which it was suggested that a loss of power to the controller (which would surely cause it not to work at all, i.e., autolevelling not function?) or a knackered controller could be the only causes for this fault. If the latter was the case (again, surely it'd affect the operation anyway?) are controllers available on the aftermarket?

Any help would be appreciated. :)

Cheers.

Occasionally, the controllers get their panties in a bunch and are confused, If you can identify the fuse - I don't have access to your car wiring diagrams - try pulling the fuse to the module and letting it do a full restart.

Cheers, I'll try that when I get back from Scotland next week.
