Car ramp crushed the sill. ? cost of repair

Featured Replies

Im very embarrassed & annoyed about this. But without going into too much detail suffice to say I managed to drop the offside sill onto a car ramp which pushed the sill up about mid drivers door.

The door opens and shuts ok but you can see that the sill is bulging out slightly.

i put some waxoyl on it to stop rust.

How can this be repaired ?

Anyway suggest a likely cost ?

Similar experience (though not as bad) happened to me, thanks to a tyre fitting bay (though they completely denied it of course). Ended up an insurance job, so cost me just the £100 excess. Has to be pulled out, filled, sprayed with the anti-chip coating then painted.

thanks - i will get a quote from my local bodyshop. theyve done good work for me in the past.

I would certainly get it repaired properly. I've had this on my previous car (VW Passat), and didn't take care of it. That's where the car started rusting!

Had a Golf mk3 that had sill lip damage in same area (from main dealer/independant servicing) which was ignored. Eventually rusted outer sill and failed MOT. Any bodywork within 50cm of a seat belt mounting point.......

Have been quoted £200 by my local repairers - seems OK , so will go with that.

Or a suspension component...

And don't get me started on Mk3 Golf rust!
