Light on after wheel change.

Featured Replies

I had the misfortune of hitting a pothole today and bursting my tyre (with only 6000 miles on it!)

Got it replaced with a new Conti sport 3 but have noticed an orange light on on the dash. It is like an exclamation mark in a U shape.

Tyre guys checked the alloy and suspension and all were OK. I am wondering is this a sensor light and how can I turn it off?

Thanks

That sounds like a brake warning light. Could you have damaged an ABS sensor? Either way you need to check what the light means and get it checked out at a garage.

Brakes seem fine. I am hoping its just an overactive sensor.

Do you have pressure monitoring?

If not, I'm inclined to think there may be a damaged ABS/traction control sensor too. VCDS time.

If it's the tyre pressure monitoring just drive in a straight line while holding down the TPM button just above the ashtray in the centre console and it should reset IIRC (The button should have the same symbol as the warning light that's on). Hopefully it's just detected that the new tyre has a slightly bigger circumference than the old ones thanks to being less worn...

Yes that's the Tyre Pressure Monitor warning light - the FL vRS has it as standard. It means the car's noticed the new wheel's rolling circumference has changed due to the new tyre. Check the pressure's as it should be in the new tyre and then press and hold the TPM button (on the centre console below the A/C controls) to reset it - the light should then go out.

Cheers,

Bob
