Climatronic not working correctly!

Featured Replies

Hey, does anybody know anything about why the climatronic in Skoda 2001 seems to be failing by causing window misting problem?

The other night when I was driving the windows became like a monday morning in London, full of thick layer of moisturized and foggy kind of condesed air. I had the climatronic on as usual set to 18 degrees and NO re-circulation. I couldn't see where I was driving, that's how thick it was.

So, does anybody know anyone having a similar problem with the climatronic

ECC before??

The auto repair guy thought it was the air filter, and of course it wasn't, but he changed anyway just in case. What a waste.

Please help! SOS!

Welcome, sorry to here about your problem. Your windows may well steam up on cold damp nights even with the climatronic on auto. This is because at temps below 5c the a/c compressor is inactive to prevent damage, thus moisture will not be removed from the air. When this starts to happen in mine, I press the screen demist button then use the - button to select an appropriate fan speed, then select a temp using the temp controls.

I press the screen demist button --what is this? What do you mean? I have no demist button.

After 5 years I serviced AC. Filter and gas. All windows are realy fogy. I mean drying up does not work. I always drive wit AC on. Is there anything else to change?

The screen demist button is the one at the top left of the Climatronic control unit. When you select it aircon is automatically switched on - unless the temperature is below about 5 degrees C. What car do you own and is it fitted with Climatronic?

O.K. I understand it as the button which direct air toward front window.

I always do this, but it is only a little better. Especialy it is bad when temperature is about or under 3 C. Other windows are still foggy. Some serviceman told me that is normal! I do not agree, because with a new car I didnt have such problems. I mean that it is obvious to change some other hardver which helps with drying up air. I have Skoda Octavia TDI 110 hp 1999. This year climatronic was serviced (adding some gas and filter).

The misting problem will be worse when the temperature is low because the air is not then being dried by the airconditioning. Does your car's airconditioning work when the weather is warm?

It works good. No such problems appeared when the car was new or 3-4 years old. I do not agree with the idea that the air has to much moisture. It has, but the wrong thing is somewher in the CLIMATRONIC. Defrogging ?? changing any additional filter?. Probably factory does not put much investment in education for maintenence. Every one who service clima (private service) told me it is a factory error. I can only say that with a new car there was no errors.
