today drove a skoda for the first time and was pleasantly surprised but now have a dilemma over a choice of two cars , a skoda superb 1.9 TDI PD 115 classic 4 dr saloon 32k miles £10,400 and Skoda Octavia 1.9 TDI PD Elegance 5-Dr Hatchback 23k miles £9700.

I have been able to find good reference to the reliability of the Octavia on the web etc, which is why i went to test the Octavia but not for the superb and dont know if this is for a reason .

I really dont have a preference for either car but the main reason for moving to the skoda brand is to have a share of this famed reliability and reduced running costs.

Can anyone offer some advice and reasons for choosing one over the other ?

Which one suits you best? Do you need the interior space of the Superb, and are you ok having a saloon or would the hatch make life easier for you...

Personally, I'd go for the Octavia but the choice is yours. They're both good cars though

Octavia. Newer design, much better spec, lower mileage, better handling, hatchback more versatile for carrying stuff.

I ordered Octavia Elegance Wagon 1.4TSI two month ago, but after a month as new Superb Estate came out, when I had the chance to compare them side by side, I just had to cancel the Octavia and have ordered Superb Estate 1.4TSI.

Not the same comparison though is it. The OP is taking about a Mark II Octy and a Mark I Superb (Saloon only)
