VAG COM Newbie help!

Featured Replies

Evening all - just got one of the cables from the group buy on here by Gadgetman. I have a couple of queries which will hopefully get me on my way.

I have sucessfully linked the cable up to my laptop and can view values on the ECU etc. My main query is whether there is some guidance on the voltages, temperatures etc that I can compare the reading in VAG Com to? My Octavia has the 1.6 BFQ engine. For example it said the engine temperature was 105 degrees, on the dash this reads as 90. The speedo is also slightly out - surely the reading comes from the same sensor? How do you know what the voltage ranges that sensors are reading should be within?

The other query I have is the idle reading on my car - what should this be? At the moment this is not stable, so I will clean the throttle body, however I could do with an idea of what this should be.

Many thanks in advance, Rich

Hover your cursor over the value you want the specs for and a balloon should pop up with the specs. If it does not, it means Ross-Tech needs information on that control module so we can add that information in a future data pack release. See the screen shot from the VCDS interactive manual on the Ross-Tech web site below:

Label Files also allow a third label field to be defined for each of the normal measuring block fields. This label is displayed in a balloon when the user clicks on the field. The idea is to put "specified values" in this field:

Cheers for the reply  I think I need to play around with it a bit more when I have some free time! :)

temp sensor is in 2 parts one does ece the other does dash, 105 is about right for engine and they all read a different speed on the dash (usually faster) but the 17" wheels wont be helping at a guess too
