OCTAVIA MK1 STARTING AND CENTAL LOCKING

Featured Replies

Hello there, new to Briskoda, having real problems since central locking and windows became faulty 3 weeks ago. Checked driver's door window controls, seemed dry and ok. Took serial number from Central Convenience Unit, disconnected and reconnected 2 connectors. Checked fuses and reconnected relays. Now no starting! Dash lights and symbols come on for 5 secs, then glow plug and immobiliser symbols go out. Only result is a click under the bonnet and no engine sounds. AA man told me this was definitely battery isssue as all lights went out after attempted start. However have tried jump cables with other car to no avail. This is a nightmare, can anyone advise what to do next?

AA state that if instrument panel lights go out when turning ignition, battery is at fault. By the way my car is an Octavia 1.9 TDi estate 2003 model. Great car apart from electrical issues!

Sounds like it may be a jammed starter. The click you can hear is the starter motor solenoid.

Replaced battery and car now running well, original 2003 battery had died. Water in door control unit plug, cleaned with WD40,dried and reconnected. Now no lights on instrument panel,RHS mirror swich not working and driver's door lock not responding to remote. Allother windows and locks ok though. Any ideas what to do next? :wonder:
