Featured Replies

Hi

I'm going to be doing an oil & filter change on my 1.9 TDI 130bhp engine any tips or pics/drgs of how to remove under engine plastic protection panels/tray to access the sump plug?

Thanks

In a word ... no.

Just gently remove each of the cowling screws. Work from the centre of the front bumper and work around the car. There's several clips on the underside of the front bumper, a few iaround the front wheel arches and some clips that connect the front undertray to the rear undertray. Make sure you keep them all, they're a swine to source new ones if you lose or snap them.

Run the car for 5 mins before changing oil too to thin it out a bit and get any particles suspended.

Two screws in each wheel arch liner at the front in front of the wheel, half turn and their out, you might wanna get some new clips from the dealer, 0.50p each and VW stock them, as they are brittle plastic and do break easy, the bolts are £2.50 each, and if one drops out the tyre quickly finds it for you, then there are two more similar ones at the edge where the bumper meets the cover, one each side and a 10mm nut in the middle, to the rear of the cover there are three more half turns to loosen off and then the cover drops away. hth.

This any help? I think its right but I couldnt say as ive never had the sump cover on my car.
