I looked at this Octavia estate today

It seemed like a nice car but I noticed a squeaking coming from the drivers side suspension. It was not really loud and was more prominent from outside. I could not locate it but did not think it sounded particularly serious. Has anyone got an idea what it may be and if its enough to walk away from the car or not?

Cheers

Anti Roll Bar Bushes ??

Rad mounts?

Cheers, it was the radiator mounts. It's a new radiator so would a bit of lube on the mounts silence it? I bought the car as it was in excellent condition with a full dealer service history. I am going to have to replace the cam belt in a year or two but got a few hundred quid off for that. Can anyone tell me if the contitech timing belt kits that are around £110 on euro car parts come with a water pump (and if so I assume it has a metal impeller)?

You can wedge the radiator mounts, or replace them, without replacing the radiator itself.

Around where I am, a reputable specialist will quote about £300 for cambelt kit, waterpump, coolant top up and labour. Getting the fuel pump timing correct can save you about that in fuel bills between cambelt replacements.

Do you know what it is that actually causes the squeaking? Mounts rubbing on the radiator or a washer vibrating? Anything along those lines? Unfortunately I live in the south of England where everything is a rip-off so I will most likely do the belt change myself. I know someone who has vagcom so I can check the timing is correct.

I love the way the ad says "NO OFFERS", then £2995 ONO...

Yea, I thought that was interesting. I paid 2850 in the end. Quite high mileage but they are mostly motorway miles and the car has been looked after very well.
