No Dash illumination

Featured Replies

Please Help,

I have bought my first Skoda, it is an 02 Octavia 1.8T L+K. Everything is great except when it got dark I realised I have zero dash illumination, this includes the instrument panel, climate control unit, all switches and buttons except the lights on/off knob which does illuminate but then goes off immediatley you switch on the lights. All external lights appear to be working apart from 1 rear number plate lamp (I suspect this will be just a bulb). The car is fitted with an after market radio head unit for some reason which does not operate the multi changer in the boot, I dont know if this is relevant or not. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Chris

Sounds like an issue with the dash bulb-dimmer control - just to the left of the main light switch. There should be two dials - one for the headlight adjustment, and the other for the dash bulb brightness....

Most aftermarket HUs will not operate the changer. I have a pioneer unit, which plays MP3 CDs, so I just removed the changer from the boot and stored it in the garage....

Thanks for the advice however I have traced the problem to fuse number 3 missing, as I have just bought the car I am wondering why it had been removed. Time will tell I just hope there is an innocent explanation.

Thanks Chris
