Scout 15" or 17" wheels?

Featured Replies

I am waiting for confirmation of a build date for my Scout and have time to play with the spec.

So far I've gone for the heated seats, bluetooth, spare wheel, tow bar prep and silver roof rails but my quandary is whether to opt for the standard 17" rims or to go for the optional 15" ones.

I will be driving 30K plus miles a year and visiting farms almost every day of the week. I know that the 17" rims will look the best but the deeper tyres on the 15" rims should make for a more comfortable ride and will certainly be cheaper to replace.

Does anybody have any pictures of a Scout with the smaller wheels?

This may have already been covered in previous postings, but your opinions are valued.

VRS boys need not reply - I know that it's 18" for you... B)

I think 16 inch would be the smaller supported size.

Someone posted a scout with 16 inch winter wheels..... let me look for it.

Yeah 16" 205/55/16 should be good.

Because only the Scout has big 225/50(!!)/17 wheels as standard it makes no sense changing to 205/55/16 which have no advantage in view of comfort.

on the optional 15's the scout would have 205/60/15's as opposed to 225/50/17's . The higher profile, hence deep sidewall must incred the "suspension factor" or the tyre. Othe benifits will be less chance of teh wheels getting damaged or "kerbed" on farm and cheaper tyres.

I ordered extra 16" steel rims when i ordered Scout so i can fit winter tires 205/55/16, with which are obligatory from 15 Nov to 15 March. Not a lot of 17" winter tires available here.
