New Scout spare wheel question

Featured Replies

I'm in the process of ordering my new Scout, and the dealer are saying they can only order the space saver, not the full size spare.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Depends what they mean by "Space Saver"!

Mine came with a 16" steelie spare with 205/55 Tyre (which was the size of the wheels on my old Mk 1 Elegance, but I digress.....) This was ticketed up with the space-saver esque "Do over 50mph and you'll die" sticker and certainly takes up less space that a full size spare would (225/50 R17). But I must admit this is not a "traditional" space saver in terms of my understanding either (a dinner plate with a 2CV tyre on it!!), simply a wheel and tyre that is a fractionally smaller size and width to the standard fitted Alloys, so I guess it can be described as a Space Saver.

Best get the dealer to check and confirm the wheel and tyre that makes up the Space Saver (ideally in writing should it not be what you expected).

Hope this helps,

Niall

Email question sent

I picked up my new Scout last week with the full size wheel.

It does actually mention in the brochure that it is not a full size matching alloy. It is not a traditional skinny space-saver wheel, but simply a smaller steel rim with an equivalent tyre on. Mine has a 205/55/r16 goodyear eagle tyre on.

More than sufficient I think for its job.

16" on my Scout too, so not the tiny thin one, and neither the full17" standard.

Jim, did you get Dunlops as standards on Scout?

Dunlop Sport 01's fitted and the Goodyear on the spare.

Cheers.

[Ordered the (not so) full size spare with mine and also a spare 17" Proteous Alloy about £180 IIRC

Didn't think of a spare alloy. Might order one. Also i ordered 4 steel rims 16" for winter tyres.

Well, it sounds like it will be a 16" space saver spare :)

Does anyone know if there's any difference in price between order a set of 16's (for winter tyres) with the car, or seperately at a later date?

I ordered many accessories for Scout so these are dealer ordered and have no impact on car delivery.

I paid 73 euro for each 16" steel rim (about 65 pounds) Skoda approved rims.

Depends, I got 4 from a Mk2 Leon, off've eBay for £1.70!

Can anyone tell me what the offset ( ET number) is on the scout 16" steel spare wheel ? . The ET number is normally stamped on the middle of the wheel between the bolt holes.

The reason for my request is that I believe this wheel will be a better match for my Octavia II Estate ( I'm assuming the bolt hole pattern is the same ).

Many thanks
