Octavia 1.6 diesel 2010

Featured Replies

Hi guys. Just bought a 1.6 diesel with the 105bhp common rail diesel.

Very pleased with it, except at light loads and under 2000 revs it tends to act as though it has gone onto limp home mode for a few seconds. Not a real problem, but I want to know why. Almost as if the glow plugs have gone on.

Suspect it is the software protecting the DPF.

Any links gratefully received.

Mine is the same, think its just a charicteristic of the 1.6 engine.

My MK6 Golf is exactly the same . Can be dangerous at road junctions / roudabouts if you're not concentrating. You do have to adjust your driving to compensate.I personally think VAG have made a big mistake in the ECU programming as this characteristic is most annoying. I suspect that the programming characteristic is due to the high priority placed on emissions rather than drivability.

This feature was the main reason why I ordered a 1.9 PD TDI Octavia and not the 1.6 CR TDI . It's a shame we can't have the best of both engines. I suppose it's a bit optimistic to expect the same low speed torque from a short stroke 1.6 engine to be the same as a long stroke 1.9 unit.

Thank you guys. Supports what I suspected, and apart from stalling it occasionally, something I will have to live with. Just wish there was a link to explain it in detail. and if anyone had a fix, except rechipping (which always seems very expensive)
