VRS Suspension / Steering Geomety

Featured Replies

Afternoon all,

I have been suffering with the whole rear tyre sawtooth problem, so am thinking of getting a 4 wheel geometry check done. I think this is a good idea as i have also had a couple of pothole damaged alloys that may have knocked things about a bit.

My question is, what exaclty is adjustable on the VRS suspension wise? Especially at the front, which other than camber is completely fixed, I think?

Cheers

Dan

Sawtoothing is usually caused by hard braking, not geometry.

I think more or less everything on the Octy 2 is adjustable except maybe front caster.

I'm suffering the same sawtoothing problem badly - especially on the back, and am going to get mine done too. I don't brake hard, most of my mileage is trundling along the motorway. I've clocked up 8500 mostly motorway miles so far and the back of the car sounds like I'm driving it across corrugated iron at certain speeds. I swapped the wheels left/right to reverse their direction and it's improved things somewhat but the noise is still there, and it will only get worse again. Has anyone on here had their geometry reset and fixed the problem? If so what are the settings I need to give to the garage?

Cheers,

Bob

Get the rear camber set to the up to date settings and buy asymetric tyres such as Bridgestone Potenza RE050a, this is what Savilles of Kidderminster recommended to me to cure my vibration problem. Car is transformed so far.

They were very specific about asymetric tyres and not just directionals, as the asymetrics are harder on the inside edges to counter problems like this

ps, for the up to date settings search my recent threads, they're on there somewhere. Most decent places should have the new settings by now. if not use a dealer!

Thanks very much.

I'll get the geometry done, but will have to wait until the crappy Dunlops wear out before I replace them with asymetrics. emoticon-0120-doh.gif

I now have assymetrics at the back (Vredstein Ultrac Sessantas) I too now have to wait for the other 2 crappy Dunlops wear out and then I will get the geometry set.

Thanks

Hmm, ditto, Michelin PS3 on the back now with sawtooth Uniroyal Rainsport 2s on the front. Considering switching the ASR off and doing some burnouts :D
