What is the vw spec for the gearbox oil used in mk1 vRS? Gonna change mine and wondering if it's a G51 or G52.

Looking for the latest spec synthetic if that helps.

I changed mine last week,i used the latest fluid from my local skoda dealer(cant remember exact type as bottle is at work!) it was £4.84+ vat for a litre.i made the mistake of using the correct spec oil from my local motor factors & the gear change was notchy etc so i drained it & put genuine oil in & its loads better!

just want to use the best vw replacement - don't want to risk aftermarket incase change goes notchy, I've heard others have this problem

Go to your nearest skoda dealer & get their gearbox oil.they were even cheaper than the motor factors pattern oil that i put in 1st!.
