1.2 12V Electronic Egr Valve

Featured Replies

Hi

Thought I would post on here for help as my engine (azq) was used in the early fabia's?!,

I've been trying to resolve a slightly rough idle on my Seat Ibiza 1.2 12V. I've replaced all the usual suspects, plugs, coils, filters etc. So my next item is my gunked up egr valve, which I suspect is sticking open slightly?!

My question is... If I remove and clean the egr valve would basic settings need to be done by VCDS or would it settle down by itself, either by letting it idle or driving the car??

Im a bit worried if I clean the valve it wont idle at all and stall, I'd be then left with a non functioning car.

Any help would be appreciated

I would have thought that as long as you didn't switch on the ignition whilst tinkering then the ECU would be non the wiser!

However I don't know for sure. Perhaps disconecting the battery while doing this and only re-connecting once everything is back in place and back together would do it?

Just some suggestions.

Phil
