Made somewhere in the CZECH REPUBLIC, normally takes 6 weeks to build the car from the day issued when you were given your build date (get this from dealer).

Then the car is sent by train to Emden in Germany (Port), normally takes about a week to get here after leaving the factory, then normally the car sits around for about two / three weeks wait at the port for a space on a Ship.

3 / 4 days to load in to Ship at Emden and travel to the UK and off load at whatever port it was sent too, normally Sheerness or Grimsby.

Then it takes roughly a week to get to dealer and allow them the prep it...

So all together normally between 11/12 weeks wait.

Skoda cars are built in Mladá Boleslav near Prague, Czech Republic.

As far as I know, they go to Emden in North West Germany by train, then to Grimsby by boat.

The whole process from build to arrival in the UK takes between 3 and 5 weeks...as far as I know

I was told by a friend of mine who used to work for Skoda UK, that when the factory start an order it takes about 6 weeks to build the car! This includes all engine testing etc, the actually assembly takes just over two weeks to do...engines are run in for 2 days apparently before assembly starts.

But I am starting to think that what he said might have been a little un-true, well especially now your saying 5/6 weeks from build to finish.

Although some customers have had there cars waiting for release at Emden for more than two weeks, like I said above. Plus it took two weeks for my car to get to the dealer from Emden and it was already made and waiting at Emden for a release note (buyer).

I don’t know for sure, but I am almost certain, that all things considered that you may be right with the 5/6 weeks eta, if everything runs smoothly, but like many have experienced this is rarely the case.

Okay bearing in mind, you don't get a delay at Emden, and then I think 5/6 weeks is accurate. I just spoke to my mate and he said I got it wrong, its 6 weeks build time from when the order is placed at the dealer to when you get your build date to when the car is finished and on the train to Emden.

So really 5/6 weeks is right, from build to dealer. Its just 11/12 weeks from when the car was purchased, as you normally have to wait awhile for a build date to be issued.

Thanks all I have been told mine has been built this Tuesday just gone so will hopefully soon be boarding the train to Emden

I think when they say 6 weeks to build this includes the planning cycle for ordering any special parts from outside suppliers .This is commonaly called the "build profile" in manufacturing circles.. Most cars are built to individual customer orders and in order to minimise parts stock inventory they have a "just in time build" process in the Skoda plant but time for suppliers to make parts must be included in the overall build schedule. I would be very surprised if the actual Skoda build time ( body stamping ,welding, painting , engine assembly & test, etc) takes any longer than 2 weeks.

The vRS (along with the L&K, Scout and 4x4) is assembled at Vrchlabí
