Does my vrs estate have a dint in its boot?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

First post on here, so any help appreciated.

I've been the proud owner of a race blue, 58 plate, 2.0 TDi CR vRS estate for the past 5 weeks. I'm loving the car (even the wife is loving it!) but having recently parked up on my parents drive, which is on an incline, I noticed what looks almost like a dint in either side of the boot when the sunlight is reflecting on it from side on (on the panels either side of the rear number plate). I never noticed this before and now I have I can't stop wondering if it is just the way the boot is on the estate Octavia or whether the previous owner has had a bike rack or similar on the back and it has dinted it.

Has anybody else noticed this with their estate? I'd put up a pic but it's difficult to capture well on camera.

I might be going insane but a mate at work noticed it too, so now he's having much fun taking the mick.

Cheers.

Get someone from Dent Wizard/Dent Devils to have a look at it for you if theres someone close to you. They might also be able to take it out for you.

Is it the same distance from each side of the number plate? It may be supposed to be there. Someone with an Estate will shed some light on it for you.

Probably should have said that yes the 'dints' are the in the same place on either side, which makes me think that it could be normal but if any other estate owners could confirm that would be ideal. Thanks.

Why do you call it a combi< VW camper van, or combie > which has a pop out roof!?

Simply because I had been looking at some pics of a German Octavia vrs estate, which I believe they call a combi - could be wrong there!

I've amended the topic to be more British.

would something like an overloaded bike rack cause symmetrical dings?

Just popped out to look at our 59 SE with sun shining across the rear door, which not shiny as covered in dust, and sorry to say as far as can see no dints in either the bit between the bottom of the window and the number plat swage or the bit below that down to the lip of the door.

No, but it might have a dent.... :notme:

Skoda call all of their estates combis

Looking like they are dents unfortunately, though barely noticeable. Checked out a parked up Octy estate today and couldn't see the same bend under the swage. I'll see what the local dealer has to say next time I call in.

Thanks for your help.

Strangely enough, I followed a 58 plate Octavia estate through town yesterday, and it looked as though it had symmetrical dents on the boot lid

Will check mine again now, but it looked as though it could well be a cycle rack, as stated by a number of posters above

it looks like that on my race blue estate but I don't think its an actual set of dents but more the way the paint makes it look

Just checked mine and no sign of what you are describing.

Funny you should mention this. Sounds exactly like the 'dent' I discovered on the right side of the plate on my race blue combi.. Could not work out how it got there and don't recall doing it myself... A mystery.. I don't think its on the left side though but perhaps I've just not noticed.. I shall have to check now...
