Picked up my new vRS!

Featured Replies

Picked up my new vRS yesterday and got to say that its even better than I had hoped it would be! Only light dissapointment is the quality of the plastic used on the drivers side door for the interior handle but that's being picky!

Anyway, got a couple of qus. I asked for the codes for my key, radio and ecu and he said that codes didn't exist for the bolero and the key could be mapped using the chassis number and that there was no code. Looked at me blankly on the ecu code.

Does the dealer know what he's chatting about or should I have got the codes?

Cheers.

The radio is coded to the car, you'll only need the code if it's going into another vehicle

Can't help on the other questions, but the key one makes sense to me... Although I'd be surprised if it's the chassis number they use when programming a key although I guess if the car has the chassis number programmed into the ECU or something like that then maybe it's part of the coding. If it was just the chassis number anyone could program a key for my car after taking a note of the chassis number as it's displayed in the bottom corner of the windscreen (like most new cars)

I have a race blue petrol one on order. Looking forward to your pics.

I asked for the codes for my key, radio and ecu

The code for the Key & ECU are the same thing i think. I'm pretty sure the dealer wont have access to this, noone does now, it's all accessed via a secure link to Germany -- the dealer tool has to go online for access to the code for each car.

The radio should come with a code i think (don't know for sure) given that you might want to put it in another car at some point?

All the best with the new car
