Oil warning light

Featured Replies

i ended up limping off coombe the weekend as the warning light came on.

had a rattling from a sticking lifter after letting it cool down it started up fine and is silent.

is there anything common to cause oil starvation to the top end?

found a few bits and bobs reguarding oil stainers blocking up?

just glad it did this now and not next month at the nurburgring B)

It will be oil starvation, The oil is slopping around in the sump more than usual when on track. Next time make sure your oil level is is a couple of mm. above the max mark. If you still have the oil light on when on track then the only cure is to fit a baffled sump.

The oil strainers can get blocked if it has been run on the wrong oil or the oil hasn't been changed as regularly as it should be.

It's a fairly easy job to fix, drop the oil and remove the sump, then remove the strainer and clean it (or replace it), put sump back on - you need some skoda sealant for this, put a very thin bead around the sump - re-bolt sump and re-fill oil.

Was yours the red one that came off just before Steves car was trailered off?
