Removing standard headunit

Featured Replies

Ok, im installing my brand spanking new Pioneer headunit soon, just a few quaetions for those in the know.

1. Any idea what to use to slide in the little slots to get the darn thing out?

2. Any problems with the cage in peoples experience?

3. Anything i should avoid cutting or burning or ripping out in anger for definate!?

4. Any issues i should know at all or is it pretty straight forward???

In the style of max (from max & paddy) "how dare you!"

1) Kenwood keys work, which I've used in the past and still have

2) Not for me, yet

3) Nah, go for it - rip and cut away until it fits. :D

4) Should be OK as long as it has ISOs, should be (to coin the phrase) "plug & play" (the playing with it takes longer than the plugging :speaker: :D :speaker: )

your a gent sir

Failling that, go to the Wirral, park up and go to get a paper. In under 5 minutes it wil have been removed for you. Why go to the expense of getting tools? :D

My pioneer had about 200 yards of cabling hanging off the back of it along with various nodules, they proved difficult to get down the back of the hole so the unit would slide all the way in.

I took the glove box out - all in one, thee or four screws is all it takes. and that gave me excellent access to the side of the console for pulling the wires through and stuffing them behind things.

Good luck!

As mentioned above, removing the glovebox can help quite a lot...

Probably some sort of aerial amp wotsit might be in order....
