When the car was last serviced they used Shell Helix Ultra 5w-30.

They also gave me a 1L top-up bottle which I have now had to use.

Now I know "any" VW 507 approved 5w-30 oil should be fine, but to my way of thinking if I stick to the Shell stuff, well it'll all be the same in there.

Anywhere know where to get either 1L or 4L/5L (so I can funnel some into my now empty 1L bottle) of the stuff reasonably priced?

The usual suspects, Halfords and Opie don't do Shell.

Its £19 a litre from the Shell garage, at least it was when I bought the one and only bottle from them!

Works out at £9.60 a litre (Ish)

I just bought a 1 litre tub of Shell Helix Ultra VW507.00 for £12 from my main Skoda dealer. Obviously no good if you don't live too close to a dealer but I didn't think that was too bad and fits nicely in the side compartment in the boot.

VW dealers were selling this as well for about the £12 mark.
