Air con question

Featured Replies

How cold should my air con get? On LO AUTO i'm getting down to 7 degrees, on LO ECO its 16 degrees. I'm sure I've heard it should get down to 5 degrees?

Just want to check before I waste £££££ getting a re-gas.

Cheers

Mike

on ECO mode the compressor is not working...it's normal to get higher temperature,in fact is the temp from outside

7 deg on AUTO is fine,a strong AC sistem gets about 4 deg....for example BMW

I thought the ac units on our cars were supposed to be "strong"????

If it's working correctly then you won't be able to hold your hand in front of the vent for more than a couple of minutes, it will start getting uncomfortable

Just had mine vacuumed out and refilled so it's as good as it gets. I had an errand to run so I put a digital thermometer on one of the vents.

At 50mph, 15degC ambient and blower on position 2, I get 4.3 degC out of the driver side vent

That's the answer I wanted, looks like mine needs a re-gas. Out fo interest what did it set you back £££?

I had mine done at 'Mates Rates'.

Kwikfit do it for £45 but they do it by pressure rather than by weight. Even the apes at Kwikfit can do this job as the machine does all the work.

Ideally, you would have it regassed by weight. The sticker by the LP port gives that info. IIRC, it's 750g R134a and 50g oil.

My advice is to ring around.
