Improve fuel economt with a new thermostat and sender?

Featured Replies

When I first got the car the temperature dial on the dash didn't give out a reading so I replaced the broken thermostat (housing was bust) with one from a scrap car. My question is in terms of fuel economy is it actually worth changing the scrap one i fitted with one of the phase 2 ones from Jorily and does changing the temperature sender improve things much too?

Your thoughts would be appreciated!!

I've done both on my 1.3Mpi recce car that gets thrashed about occasionally. It's made no difference whatsoever, it's still on the juicy side.

The Jorily one works the same, just doesnt break like the old type. If it is opening at just under 90 on the gauge, it's fine.

I think the sender also feeds to the ECU, but as Darren says, it doesn't seem to make much difference.

What mpg are you getting?
