to spray or not to spray.

Featured Replies

Going to fit the front seat splitter to my SILVER fabia soon, but am wondering if i should spray it or leave it black? Anyone sprayed it, if so pics please!!

Leave black. :) I think would look like too much silver, and also as the splitter is where it is, it will get scratched really quickly.

If anything, perhaps a coat of gloss black on the top part would be good, leaving the underside normal?

ahh good point about where it is didnt take that into account.

Leave it black, I did a photoshop on mine and painted it silver. Just looked wrong. Also spray your grill black if you havent already.

I think.. you should try it skoda green.. with skoda green alloys to go with it. (then paint the calipers red). :D Oh to add, paint the headlighting bit skoda green too.. now that would look interesting..

 yup was thinking of yours B) (did you make the signature gif yourself?)

Im tempted by (dark) orange myself but may look a bit too...loud..... :p

but yeah, try the silver and green if you like it. worse that will happen is it will look a bit out of place, simply undo 6-8 screws, sand down and paint it black again.. Modd'ing is all about invidiuality at the end of the day.

Very true, everyone has different tastes etc it's all about trying to be a bit individual. Only issue with spraying the splitter though is I can see the paint chipping really easily.

I can honestly say I think a smooth green splitter would look cack, even with smooth green alloys :D

I might just get the tips of the splitter done in green not the hole thing really not sure, either that or black.

Dont drive so close to the car in front? or simply overtake them :rofl:. these things happen tho, I painted the grill surround black the other day and within 2 days I got big fat chip on it showing the chrome again....... :dull: I did rush the painting part a tad so maybe if I didnt it would be more durable...

Unless it's a smooth finish or you're going to smooth it, leave well alone or it'll look nad IMO.

ill get a local body shop to spray.

Yeah - that's true - the oem "lumpy" finish of the plastic splitter will take some serious prep work to make it smooth before painting. I imagine a fair few coats of primer + sanding will be needed.

I'm dead against tailgating, nothing winds me up more when driving tbh! But if you look at my bumper/bonnet, well its horrific!

Don't paint it green ffs. Black definitely.
