Best for cleaning Mk1 Octy vRS carpets?

Featured Replies

Anyone got any tips and/or product recommendations for cleaning the Mk1 Octavia vRS carpets? My friend just got one and his carpets are looking a little tatty (along with the whole car actually - needs a detail after some other attention)

hi to be fair picked mine up last weekeend and to say they were dirty was an understatement!! don't think they had been cleaned since new!!

bought 2 cans of car plan upholstery cleaner from homebase, was about 4.49 a can!

used 11/2 and did all carpets and seat inserts and is a different car (smells better now as well) so will def use it again, secret is to use loads of clean water and keep changing it as you go along, i used a microfibre towel after agitating the foam with the brush on the lid!

hope this helps? loads cheaper than a full valet

I always use Autoglym interior car shampoo. Used it with a micro fibre cloth and soft upholstery brush for really stubborn stains...

I also use it on the plastics as i prefer to clean them rather than cover them with shiny spray etc.

Yeah I like the AG stuff too. His carpets may need some steam though. Very mucky

Also do the rugs and carpets in the house, and keep the missus happy at the same time !!!

1001 works a treat & Is cheap. I use a wet vax & also I have a brush witha dipensing bottle attached. This dispenses the mix of 1001 & water directly onto the bristles. This is especially good for seats as it allows you to agitate & foam without saturating.

I did try Megs APC once, but I had to leave the car stood In my dads garage for two days with all the windows fully open as the fumes were choking :o

so does that attach to the Vax then - or is this something seperate (apologies to OP if its slightly off topic  )

^^That

least this way you will pick up the dirt rather then just getting rid of it on the surface

or just get a Vax wet and dry vac will do

i bought one for around £60 a year ago and works a treat

No Its seperate. It puts the shampoo directly on the brushes so you can agitate & foam on the stains without saturating the surface. Then I use the vax to suck any remaining moisture up.

Hi

Done mine yesterday and now look great !! Turtle wax interior 1 was what I used. Spray on foam in a tin with a plastic brush attachment on the top. For stubborn stains keep applying and they will eventually come out, carefull not to over-rub the course plastic bristles from the attachment tho as it could make your carpets look a bit haggered..is so use a seperate softer brush. Used it on a few motors now and its great stuff

Some APC
