Upgraded brakes

Featured Replies

Hi

I've already upgraded my vRS SE from standard front brakes to Audi TT 312mm.

Pads now need replacing, done 20k since new. (thinkI should have done them by now actually)

Would like to replace front discs with 'Grooves' and high performance pads. What is the opinion on which to go for, Will be Upgrading pads on rear at same time.

Was initially thinking of Tarox discs and pads, but can't find any rear pads for the vRS.

Split between Tarox and EBC and Green Stuff. Will be taking car on track shortly so want good performance brakes.

All ideas welcome.

thanks

John

Have a search, the topic has come up recently a few times. 312`s on a fabia, it seems oem brakes are plenty good enough, even for a few track days. A few people have upgraded pads.

ferodo ds2500 are an excellent pad however technically not road legal on the fabia. Pagid blue or orange would be another good bet which are road legal.

I've only every used oem as I dont see the point of drilled/grooved.

ive had ebc green and redstuff in previous cars, they were always fine for day to day 'fast road use' never used them for a track day though

Ferodo DS2500 FTW. That is all.

I would have though that Ferodo would need to display some sort of disclaimer along the lines of "not for road use" if they were "technically illegal". I can't see anything toi that effect on thier website

That link is for the DS performance pads (old DS2000) Not the DS2500 which are competition pads http://www.ferodoracing.com/it/car_racing/ds_2500.htm

See this link regarding not being road legal. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/155594-ds2500-track-day-only-pads/ It was also picked up on last year by Bengie.

Standard 312 discs and OE pads(Pagid) do me well enough on road and track, no fade yet and thats with a whole day on track. As for the rear all OE again, as they don't do that much braking . Yer brake fluid is another key ingredient in brake performance so get the best you can. Got all me bits from Euro Car Parts.

Castrol super dot 4 you want.

Mintex are a good standard disc and pad. You do not need to go drilled and grooved unless you have massive performance. I did have 312mm Tarox G88 discs on the front up until very recently. Even with my power there was no need for these. Mintex vented discs now do the job very nicely.

That be Castrol Response, very good stuff. Even more extreme is Castrol SRF but mega expensive, £76 per litre last time I looked.

Ferodo pads do have "For racing only" printed on the box, make of that what you will.

Think they need to warm up a bit before they provide the most braking force, which isn't a problem on OE/road pads.

Castrol srf is what I use. Ds2500 are excellent from cold. I beleive ds3000 need heating up.

Hi guys ( any maybe guy'esses don't know)

Thanks for all the tips and info, plumped for TAROX frond discs and pads all round, and left the rear discs as standard. Upgrading the fluid as well.
