Rear Seat Delete?

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I would be interested to know if anyone has removed the rear seats in their Octavia VRS MK1 (for looks , weight saving etc etc)

what have they been replaced with??.. is their any companies that do a rear seat 'delete' ? ?

Any pictures and help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks Guys,

Peter

Only reason I can think of for removing your rear seats is to make way fir a whacking great roll cage!

been done by a few people now

des has his fully stripped and so have a few other weight saving so you wouldnt wanna stick anything over the top as that defeats the objective.

why you wanna strip( track car)

the rears seats come out in about 1 minute lol

Hi guys,

Some background:

After doing my homework I bought an Octavia VRS Mark1: 32k, 2 owners. 05 Reg,

1.8 180bhp

I want to convert the Ocy into a 'fast' road car, maintaining reliability and the overall 'discreet' look and feel of the car . (A car I could use to go shopping or race round a track)

There’s a whole heap of ideas I have atm. Please bear in mind these are just 'ideas' as I have no idea what’s possible. Budget is also an issue as I refuse to spend 0000's on a ‘05 car (My mechanical knowledge is also basic to say the least, but I’m learning slowly :wonder: )

First and foremost the car needs a good ‘Tidy’ up. Five years of use = lots of grime dirt and general wear and tear. I have started to clean up the interior carpets, dash, pedals etc. Once this is completed I MAY tackle the car with a machine polisher or use a good ‘detailer’ to remove nasty swirl marks B)

Once complete and the car is looking ‘presentable’ I wanted to try the following:

Interior:

1) Remove rear seats, and replace with carbon panels

2) Retrim drivers seat

3) Clean or retrim door cards

Exterior:

1) Paint bumper stripes black

2) Tint rear windows

3) Powder coat spider alloys in black.

4) Rear Mud flats removed

Mechanical:

1) Revo remap

2) Stainless exhaust (mayble miltek)

3) KnN filter

4) Nice new black hoses (Samco sport)

Please feel free to comment on the above.... any guidance would be great

Here are some current pics (Pretty crap tbh!! :( )

how about doing the things that will make it a faster better car for fast road?????

1. uprated suspension

2. uprated pads + discs

3. full exhaust

4 frontmount

5 uprated pannel filter with de finned box

6 stage 2 remap

( 220 + bhp)

then you have a car that will be perfect for fast road and track ( plus decent tyres if it hasnt already)

this is what i would do before thinking of stripping seats out as that will give next to no performance change as its minimal.

if the money was there a diff would be added to the above lol

hope this helps nice car buddy good luck with the progress

p.s watch the for sale threads as bargains do come up and make the tunning side a whole lot cheaper and afordable

Hey

Thanks for the reply,

The seats was just a cosmetic thing, but thanks for the info.

I'm sure i'll post as the 'project' rolls on

I will keep an eye on the for sale section

will be good to see buddy.

i have a mate who does tinting he is in bristol but its only £140 for the whole car drop me a pm if your interested.

p.s that carpet is proper clean fancy doing mine lol

Rear seat removal seems a bit pointless to me. What westallc (Clive) has suggested will get you a very sorted motor.

*Off topic. Clive how much would your mate charge just to tint the rear windows and back screen?

£100 i think

give him a call

his name is ally number is 07811987634 ( tint tech ) mention my name the guy with the yellow vrs

is he mobile mate & do you think he would travel to Oxford?

Cheers

hey guys,

Thanks for all the replies.

Oh why oh why did they design the car with white carpets and door card!! :S (white is never a good idea).

@westallc / mike - thanks for the pointers, i have already been surfing on AMD's website :doh:B)

The seat delete was inspired by this guy (his project is jaw dropping)

Hey Sweed,

thanks for the input, May I ask were did you get the carpet from (does it have to be molded to fit the fixtures)?

How much (if you don't mind me asking)

We took the rear seat squabs and backs, spare wheel and toolkit out of my mates VRS the other week at Combe, the seat backs alone are bl**dy heavy. It made the rear end so light though (and it has a rear ARB) it was skipping around quite a lot in the corners.

hi magnex,

No its a standard fit part you can get from the main dealer so as long as you are happy stripping the interior its pretty easy to fit  , i got a discount and it cost me around £110 iirc

Yeah those seat backs are beasty! I always think that when folding them down. It's like they have a bulletproof plate in the back of them! Guess it's a safety thing to stop luggage killing the passengers. Handy!

The back end really is super light when it's stripped to bare essentials. I was a bit paranoid about leaving the spare wheel and tools in the hotel room at the Ring! Imagine the shame if you got a puncture and had to get help!
