Leak from door seal

Featured Replies

When driving in the rain I've noticed one or two small drops of water coming in between the door frame and seal on the drivers side, around the top half of the door, on the front side (between the mirror and top of door). Has anyone else had this problem or should I be going back to the dealer (the car is nearly five months old)?

Wow!!!! I thought I was the only one.....my 59 Plate VRS does this to :'(

The Octavia doesn't have rain gutters and I often find water collects at the top of the door and falls onto the seats when the door is opened. I think you will find the water you see is just the last of that water which is tracking inside once the door is opened. Could be wrong of course. Another issue is the double seals, esp at the top of the doors. These extra seals stop wind noise but also trap water. My 1999 Golf MKiv is always dry because it lacks these extra seals whilst the Octavia just seems to accumulate water until I open the door to let it out.

I suggest you dry the door, dust the seals with talcum powder, then run water over the seal from a hose. Should show up a leak.

Dealer who supplied said they'd have a look for me so taking it in - will post the result.

have a search, i'm sure this is a common problem (had it on my 58 plate - and many others seemed to as well) - wasn't even rain sneaking in as you opened the door, it would do it if i left home in the dry, then drove to work and got caught in a good downpoor

my dealer was familiar with the problem anyways, believe their solution is just to put a bit more sealant in the door or something :)

I have the same problem with my MY07 Octavia sedan. A light show is all it takes to drip on the lap of the passenger..
