Front Seat Removal.

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

I intend to give the car carpet & seats a cleaning as they are long overdue. Is it a big job to remove the front seats as it would make the job a tad handier. Thanking you in advance.

You mean something like this:

It's a 5 min job per front seat:

Disconnect battery (for the airbags)

Slide the seat all the way forward and remove the two small round plastic bungs in the runner trims (at the rear of the trims) then remove the torx screw under the bungs.

Slide the seat all the way back, remove the two 13mm nuts at the front edge of the seat (in the centre)

Push the seat backwards so the studs pop out of the bracket, tilt the front of the seat up and disconnect ALL of the wiring plugs.

Lift the seat out - i find it easier to lift the drivers seat out of the car through the rear door.

Refitting is the reverse (making sure the battery is connected last, but whilst it's disconnected its an ideal time to remove the battery to clear the plenum chamber bungs and re-seal the pollen filter housing - if you have not already done it)

HTH.

I know this is an old thread but im having mine valeted tomorrow and im gonna take seats out to do it.

I have electric seats so if im careful can i remove bolts then disconnect battery. Other wise i wont be able to access bolts.

Yes, just don't unplug the (yellow) airbag plug with the ignition on or you will put the airbag light on.
