Hello all and thanks for an informative and cheerful site. I have "lurked" for a couple of years but now feel ready to enter the fold.

My first Skoda was an orange and silver Rapid back in the 80s and I thought that that part of my life was far behind me. My OH however had other ideas and is on her second Fabia SDI (something to do with a wet road and a bit of oil!). I was due to change cars this year and following a very short exchange where I said "Mid-life crisis-Alfa 156" and she said "what about a nice sensible Octavia diesel" I started looking for a cheap, low mileage diesel estate with the 4x4 option. I soon realised that I had more chance of finding a healthy chicken with gold dentures than an Octavia 4X4 TDi with low mileage in my price range and started looking outside the box. The search stopped today when we found an almost immaculate 02 plate, low mileage (65K), 4x4 1.8T, PETROL, hatchback. It's a nice sensible Octavia even if it's a little thirsty and I collect it at the weekend!

Any tips or hints (for either) would be appreciated.
