Hi skoda people,

my gearbox has gone again,its a 1.9tdi 2006 mark 1,engine code is AXR.

my question is can i fit any mk1 1.9tdi gearbox to my car,there quite a few on ebay all with different engine codes this is a cheaper option then rebuild which cost me £1000 last year only done 30k.

i love me car but hate the gearbox only thing that ever cost me money.

any advise is welcome.

They'll all physically fit; You probably want to try and find one with the same gearbox code, because there's more than one gearbox for any engine code (and sometimes more than one engine associated with a given gearbox code). Oh and get your hand off the lever when you're driving; that kills the synchromesh!
