Tuning Box Dyno

Featured Replies

Does anyone have a dyno readout of the before and after results of a tuning box on a tdi??

I have seen a lot of dyno readings for remapping, but as yet, none for tuning boxes.

Cheers

Sorry no figures but just happened to keep up with a mini cooper S and that has 165 bhp so that will give you a rough idea

I think that would be a somewhat optimistic view for myself, as i am only driving a 110TDI Octy.

Cheers anyway.

The info that came with it says approxamately a 25% increase so about 130 to 140 bhp the one to ask is scoobychris he has a 100pd + box so he may be able to give you a better idea.

I had one on my golf for 3 years, and it was about 25%. But im trying to find one of the graphs showing flat spots etc. I know a remap can iliminate flat spots, but i would like to see if a tuning box has any effect.

I will have to give scoobychris a bell.

Cheers

I have to admit that mine is easier to drive with it on the power is there right from when you take your foot off the clutch and it just keeps on coming. In standard trim it is very hesitant from rest and the power will come in all of rush which does tend to make the wheels spin ...not good with ice on on the road

This is my old Octavia 90hp with a box installed. It had 125hp with the box and 308nm.

This is a Seat Toledo with the same engine as your car. It had 137hp with the box. The best 110hp TDi I have measured had 141hp.

You rang ;) Not had it dyno'ed yet but I expect it'll be a similar shape to standard, just a bit higher up the plot as it is putting more fuel into the engine. From a driving point of view, it pulls stronger from lower down the rev range and carries on pulling further up the rev range (up to about 3.9k rather than 3.5k it was previously).

I'd be interested if anyone has a dyno of one - hopefully will get mine rolling roaded early next year - I'd be hoping for 125-130bhp :D

Just what i was looking for.

My Octy 110 Tdi has a tuning box, I don't have any graphs but can honestly say it's a different car with the box fitted.

Tickover is smoother, the engine is smoother, the torque is much stronger and the power keeps coming past 4000rpm. I can believe the 140bhp claims.

My box took a bit of setting up, which was a pain, but the results are well worth it.

The only problem can be traction, with the current damp weather full throttle in first and second results in wheel spin and the traction control doesn't seem as effective. The other downside is the fuel computer now overeads by around 15%.

I would get one for the Fabia as well but my wife won't let me put one on. :)

Cheers
