too true :giggle:

Just out of interest, take your undertray off and see if you have tell tale signs of your oil cannister leaking. Did and oil change t'other day and had a dirty/oily patch directly under cannister. :wonder:

Same happened to me yesterday. My excuse is that the dip-stick is difficult to read and seemed to be fine about a week (800miles) ago.

Scared the life out of me as the last time I saw an oil warning light it signalled the death of my Mazda 6 Sport 2.3. They quoted £7000 for a new engine and then £4000 for a second hand/reconditioned one that never actually materialsied (for complicated and boring reasons). Ultimately (via a 12 month filler of a Mondeo TDCI that I actually quite enjoyed) I ended up with my Octy vRS so it ended well.

I was told when I destroyed my Mazda 6 that once the oil warning light shows the engine was already ruined. I only hope this isn't the case for my Skoda TDI vRS - but after topping up all seems to be well. I assume the 2.0 VAG TDI in my Octy vRS is less sensitive and fragile than a Mazda 2.3 petrol engine.

And yes - sythentic oil 507.00 is very expensive isn't it!

Regards,

Jon
