Can Superb aerial be fitted to Octavia

Featured Replies

As the title suggests I'm considering replacing the stock aerial on my vRS estate with the one from the Superb as the stock one gets in the way when putting my kayak on the roof.

Has anyone done this or know if it can be done without losing radio reception?

I have this OEM Sharan stubby aerial - reception unchanged and it does not get in the way when I have things on my roof:

http://www.parts4euro.com/DCShop/product_info.php?cPath=1_35_263&products_id=8

I tried one off ebay but that did not fit very well, the one above costs a little more than the ebay ones but its worth it IMO for the better fit.

30 seconds to swap them over...

I think someone on here tried the vw/superb shark fin and found the radio reception was lousy.

Same company - Parts4euro.com - but if go you via the link its 18 quid with free delivery! if thast any better.

I have a couple of brand new OE Sharan stubby aerials. 2.5" long (6.5cm). Standard 5mm thread so screw into Octavia/Fabia etc aerial base.

£12 inc. delivery. Paypal (gift) payment.

Reception is not quite as good as the longer aerials, but unless you're a very long way from the radio transmitter you won't normally notice the difference.

Cheers.

So it looks like the Sharon aerial might be the best bet. An added bonus is I wouldn't have to change the base for that one.

Including to Ireland? ;)

I'm interested in giving one a go though if you could let me know.

Hi guys, had a simular problem with the scout aerial as the standars one was catching on the garage door when it opened and closed. I enquired at the local stealers who's reply was 'they are all the same lenght'

Then treid local VW stealers, hey presto the one for the new Polo/Golf fits ( which is the stubby one)and there has been no drop in reception, which would be noticed straightaway as we live in a poor reception area

I think the price was around £12-13

Hope this helps

Thanks for your time much appreciated.

Will def get one as soon as I get my car expected 21st June.

Ok, so its shorter, but that would still conflict with stuff on my roof bars..

Morganic: i tried one of those ebay ones, worked ok but the base was just a little too "flared" to look right on the skoda base (i'm a real detail nut, sorry). I have the partsforeuro one now and that fits much better IMO.

I agree...it would still get in the way...I think the Sharan one is the way to go really. I had on Saturday and I think (cos I wasn't arsed putting on the roofbars just to check) that the top of the bars and top of the aerial will be the same.

Is it flexible or would it be knocked off by a low flying aircraft?

Thanks Eric - fitted the "stubby" this evening - looks nice me thinks emoticon-0148-yes.gif

I'll do some reception testing tomorrow.
