Glaze for Race Blue

Featured Replies

Going to have a bash with a Glaze on my race blue octy. Looking to get a wow factor finish.

I was thinking Black hole but really i'd prefer some first hand experience if anyone has any? Or alternative products that bring out the race blue? I want shine but i don't like deep mirror like reflections that i get using synthetic stuff, i prefer the shallow but very rich colour i get from wax covered with sealer.

Just looking for a bit of extra colour / zing on the existing finish really so i figure a glaze + wax (megs 16 currently) + sealer (SP stuff i got).

Baker 21 will be along soon to answer this one....

Baker21's going to say Zaino though isn't he :giggle:

Fine if you're Mr Mega Bucks or you're doing detailing professionally and can justify buying into Zaino -- i've no doubts it fantastic stuff and even that it's fantastic value, just that it's pretty steep to buy into the whole system

Even if they did a mini starter kit -- small bottles, enough for say maybe 4 details but including all the major components of the system @£35 or something

Nope there are plenty of other products on the market so you don't have to buy the whole Zaino system?

Z8 will add that something special and you can put this over something cheap like FK1000p or Collinite 476s with ease.............

What products have you got? If you don't want to spend £20 on something to add some gloss then try a cheaper alternative from CG or Megs that will do a similar job but won't last as long...........

I am a mega Clearkote fan, they are old school oily glazes and waxes and well priced and very easy to use. I would suggest their Red Moose Glaze followed by their Yellow Cream Wax. You can top with either their Moose Wax or something like Pete's or Natty's Blue.

Nice pic James, i'm not biased by the fact mine is a mirror image of yours :giggle: except maybe not as shiny...

What are the door edge protectors you have? They look like a sensible investment?

Thanks for all the input folks. I'm going to splash out on some Z8 and give it a whirl. See how i like that. I guess experimenting with small quantities of everything until i find a combination that gets me the 100% look is the way to go.

I use Poorboys Black Hole followed with Poorboys EX-P Sealant.

Absolutely marvelous finish and the easiest product Ive ever used

I cannot recommend the products highly enough!!

Is that any good for Candy White?

Just reading loads of threads about different cleaning/polishing methods specific to car colour, which is new to me! :S

You'll only get the liquid glass finish with the clearkote stuff and a DA IMHO.

Was about to order a whole lot of kit for a complete cleaning/aftercare solution as had posted on another thread but now halted in my tracks!

As the car is only 3 days old and covered in insects Ive bought some Mguires Gold car wash and the lambs wool mit plus the extra dry cloth as a quick solution hoping it buys me some time so I can get the right products first time around as its a hell of a lot of investment or so it seems! :S

The best wash regime starts with application of Snow Foam via a lance and pressure washer.

The removal of dirt from the surface prior to a two bucket hand wash will seriously cut the chances of inflicting swirls on your paint clearcote

Takes a while to find the right products you like. I started with the cheaper end and TBH, if the preps right is does'nt matter. In general the Poor Boys waxes and glazes are all good, as is the Cleakote range. You can't go wrong with AG even, but def get a Megs clay bar kit and use that. Simple wax, well, Colly 845 is good for the winter so maybe get that and a glaze like CK RMG.
