ECU remap FL Octy vRS crd dsg

Featured Replies

Looking at a remap of my facelift Octy vRS crd 170bhp dsg. To be done in the North East (Durham based). So.....

1) Why should I get this done (benefits)

2) Where should I get this done (recommended companies)

3) What are the downsides re the ECU, future servicing, insurance etc etc

Bit of a luddite, so any assistance gratefully received

Thanks.

The benefits are another 35-40bhp, 60lb/ft torque and a potential fuel saving depending on your driving style.

We offer this service for all 2.0TDI CR engines whether it is anti-tuning protected or not. We are based in Mansfield approx 1.5 hours from you.

The downsides are that it will invariably put a little more strain on the components of the engine and that if you have a warranty claim relating to your ECU, engine or drivetrain, you might have a problem with getting it paid for by Skoda.

Hope that helps :)

Such refreshing honesty.

1. Because it will increase the bhp to a similar figure to that of the petrol vRS but with much more torque, if driven under normal conditions it should deliver improved mpg.

2. Shark Performance is the one I would choose if I did it all over again, they're based in Mansfield, APR and Revo are the two other recommened ones on here, I should imagine you will find an outlet near you. I am running an Angel Tuning map which I am very happy with, they do offer a mobile service but are based in Kent so i don't think they would come to you.

3. As far as I am aware there aren't any downsides regarding the ecu, the only real problems come if you go for a very aggressive map, which will obviously put extra stress on components, turbo etc. Regarding insurance, you must inform them, most companies will add a small increase to your policy or there are others that will offer deals for modified cars e.g Adrian Flux. Servicing shouldn't be an issue, but warranty could be, dispite what you may hear remaps are detectable with dealer equipment, but again some dealers will still carry out warranty work provided the problem wasn't a direct result of the remap.

HTH Lee.

I've just noticed Ben has beat me to it whilst I was typing.......so what he said!!!
