Rear lighting diagram on Superb

Featured Replies

I was hoping someone could give me a diagram indicating the wiring colour codes for the rear lighting unit. I need to locate the reverse light + feed and the GND wire. I could make an educated guess but want to confirm via diagram

Thanks ... J

On German cars, the earth wires are always brown.

Take the lamp holder assembly out on one side (it just unclips), identify the reversing lamp bulb and trace the metal strip on the holder back to the connector. You can then identify the colour of the wire in the loom.

From memory, the reversing lamp wires are Blue/Red (I needed a reverse lamp feed to operate the brake inhibitor on my big trailer) but you ought to check this - it's not difficult.

If you need a positive feed, the rear of the boot power connector is always live - I used this to power my trailer brake lamps via a relay. Fit a line fuse in this lead as the VAG fitted fuse to serve this socket is well hidden...

Update:

By coincidence, I had to change a stop lamp bulb on my Superb this morning.

The reversing lamps are indeed fed by a Blue/Red wire.

Good stuff. Thanks for the replies. Yes, I had noticed that the brown wire was common to all lights but as brown = live on mains here in UK I was wondered if there was a pernament +12 feed to the bulbs and the GND was switched but it makes sense now.

Cheers :)
