Am I being robbed or is it a good price

Featured Replies

A friend of mine recommended a mechanic to me. He specialises in bmw's, but takes on vag cars too.

One of the bushers went, so every bump and every increase/decrease in momentum of the car created the sound of the metal flying around under the car. I gave the car to the mechanic, picking it up today. total 100 quid

Apparently, he got the parts for about a tenner each. that leaves about 80 quid left for the labour. Do any of you experienced people know how long/difficult it is to change both of the bushers?

Not complaining or anything, just wanted to know if it's a fair price or if im being screwed?

thanks.

Where? I'd think it might be rate for London, but would hope the Medway Towns would be cheaper.

Which bushes?

£100 including supply and fitting isn't too bad for both front wishbone bushes if you ask me.

Sure it's not super cheap, but it's not a rip off either.

@KenONeill this was done in Chatham (Kent)

just got back from a long drive, god, they make a world of a difference. Apparently the previous time they were done, the mechanic hammered them in, this guy pressured them in. Hope they last.

The 100 quid was well worth the money and the mechanic is apparently an old friend of the family, whom I should have known. (apparently, as in so I've been told). But he did a quality job, explained everything very well and I can't complain.

Thanks for the price references ;)

^^^^ Can you pass on his details

Need a good tool man, now that Impossible have disappeared.

Seems about right. A good friend of mine is a mechanic and over the years has spent thousands on tools, Snap-on tool boxes, diagnostic boxes and VAG-COM. When you see all he has you don't mind paying when you know he has used the right tools for the right job every time.

@mdk1, I pm'd you.

@kai, that thought has passed me before. I'm more than happy with the result and I think it's fair.

Thanks
