what was i doing wrong?

Featured Replies

Ive got one of them meguirs smooth surface clay kits, i have used it before to good effect.

I washed and dried my fabia then went to use the clay, lubricating with the spray, but the bar was sticking to the paintwork and sort of went really soft with bits sticking to the paint, leaving a small layer of clay on the paint, I thought that was a bit odd so tried another panel, and it was a similar effect. It was

almost like the clay was becoming molten but it was not that warm and i was in the shade, In the end I stopped as a mate dropped by but was there something daft i was doing?

Maybe pressing on to hard? work the clay in your hands a little bit to soften it up a little?

are you sprayin the clay bar of the panel?

There something daft i was doing?

Sounds like the clay is past it's best? Is it brand new or old?

Also how hot was it as if it's too warm then it will become very supple and if your applying too much pressure you will just break it into bits........... :S

considering the weekend we had I would guess it was too hot and not enough product (due to it drying too quickly). I had to wait till 7:00 at night before carryng out my claying and then again the next day to finish the process (due to light).
