Has any one got the noise reduction engine bay felt. I had it on my golf gti. Is it not there as a cost cutter? Do the diesels have it or any new mark 2 octavias?

It is on the diesel, but apparently not on the petrol.

A number people have retro-fitted it, and apparently it is cheap and easy to do. Search the forum/speak to your dealer for further info.

Petrol FLs dont, I fitted it and takes few minutes. I installed it the minute I got back from collecting the car lol!

Does it really make much difference?

Mine has it, but this thread is making me think of removing it... as I'd like to get more 'drama' and noise from the TFSI.

Me to, it was about 15 quid iirc, and 2 minutes to fit, tbh I wish I hadn't bothed as it quietens the sound of the Evoms!!

I got one as it warms up quicker in winter and looks unfinished without it. Doesn't make a huge amount of difference with noise I don't think.

Did you get yours second hand as there not a standard fit?

They stopped putting it in as a cost saver later in the model life. My 58 plate didn't have it, blu2 has an 06 reg which did.
