Just wondered if the VRS Exhaust has a purpose throatyness to its exhaust sound my Octy is 06 plate has no obvious changes/modifications to the exhaust the air box looks untouched i.e no ram air kit no upgraded filter etc I've had a couple of comments of the obvious from our all lovin know it alls "THATS BLOWING THAT IS " also a few comments of wat you done to that it sounds throaty (sorry for repeating that) I used to own a LCR that didn't sound different unless you messed with the air box or changed the exhaust yeah I know its a different engine now but surely there isn't that much difference is there :think

I've noticed the MY2006 vRS does sound more throaty. No idea why.

The OEM exhaust on the VRS is really quite 'straight through' (for an OEM exhaust) and does produce a pleasant degree of roar/burble, particularly around 2,500rpm.

One way to test if you have a leak or blow in the exhaust, is to;-

1. have the parked with the engine running on tickover (preferably just after you have started it so the exhaust is 'cold');

2. get a pair of heavy leather gardening gloves and

3. block the two exhaust outlets for a moment.

If you feel a pressure build-up with no accompanying phst, phst then the exhaust is good with no leaks.

PS> Oh, and your exhaust, like a good wine, will mature with age (and slight build up of soot etc.) to produce a more melodious tone to it.

Good luck.
